Chemistry

Two chemistry students wearing white labcoats

What gives fireworks their colours? How are batteries connected to the heat death of the universe? And how is it that the molecule limonene, found in both orange peel and lemon peel, is responsible for the very different smell of each?

The Chemistry program examines the molecular basis of our universe and ideas about the ways substances interact in the abundant chemical reactions that are responsible for our very existence. Theoretical aspects are considered by means of lectures and tutorials while practical observations and analysis take place during a variety of laboratory sessions.

Students must be enrolled in BSSS Chemistry in their home college to be eligible for this H Course.
