Biodiversity (Conservation Biology)

This course provides students with an understanding of the concepts and techniques of conservation biology and an appreciation of the key challenges facing the practitioners of this science.

The factors that contribute to biodiversity are investigated and an understanding of the ecological, genetic and evolutionary consequences of human modification of these ecological processes is studied. The major anthropogenic threats to the viability of natural populations, species and ecosystems are addressed, with a focus on climate change as one of the greatest threats to biodiversity.
